New Corinne Bailey Rae!

she performed her new song 'Closer' on Ellen today.

Glad to see her back. She sounds and looks beautiful.
Her new album 'The Sea' came out on Tuesday, January 26. If it's anywhere near as good as her first one, it's definitely worth the purchase.

Whoa...Kelis, What Happened?!

Fever Ray: ummm....she's interesting.

Meet Vinny Gambini and Mona Lisa Vito...King and Queen of Guido Chic

The 90s were remarkable...
so were these two.

Refer to the film 'My Cousin Vinny' (1992) for all the tea on these two lovebirds...

TrashTastique Love

When I use the word Trash about these two, I mean in the best way possible. Separately, they would make for two of the biggest hot garbage messes in history. But, together... it's like Magic.

Octavia St. Laurent "Queen of the Underground"

One of my favorite movies is the 70s documentary 'Paris is Burning.' It explored the then unknown world of drag balls... Rent it and check it out.

The video below was produced by Jerico DeAngelo and is currently nominated for a Pill Award in NYC.

Another cool sound...

Have you heard of Anjulie?... her album came out a while ago, but I'm just now hearing about her. I like her sound. She's kinda got that Lily Allen hip-hop and jazz thing going.

check out her vid...

I bought her album off of Amazon, and thus far I'm pretty impressed.

Things to do in the rain...

It's been pouring really badly in LA all week...
kinda hard to preserve your sexy when you're feeling like a wet mop. But don't fret my pets! Here's a brainstorm of things to do when the sun is on a week long hiatus:

1. Cat Naps anyone? catching a few zzzz's in the middle of the day can be energizing and therapeutic. Besides, when the sun decides to show her pretty face, you'll be fresh and ready to greet her.

2. Reading. Getting hooked in a good book is fun... besides, you'll have more brain cells after spending a couple of hours wrapped up in some literature than you would if you watched back to back episodes of Maury... come on son, you already knew he wasn't the father. SMH

3. If you must watch TV... try the Travel Channel, the History Channel, Discovery, National Geographic, HGTV, the DIY Network, or the Food Network... you know, the boring stuff you usually flip through to get to that Jersey Shore nonsense.
Skip the guido shenanigans for a day. Snooki and her burnt orange skin and rat's nest hair will be in reruns until MTV finds some new fools to profit off of...relax.

4. After you've watched all the cool shows on the Travel Channel and Food Network, get in the kitchen and experiment with some of the things you've seen. Don't torture the delivery boy and make him travel in this nasty mess. Become your own patron saint of cuisine

5. If all else fails, grab some cute wellies, a warm raincoat and a big umbrella and take an afternoon walk... fresh air is still fresh air even if it's a little musty...[yuck, that sounds awful]

Chh-Ch-Check It Out...

Introducing Sibley. She's dope...
I'm usually not too keen on female MCs. They're either too hood or too raunchy, but I think I might be feeling Miss Sibley's style...
Here's her video called Dis Record. Not quite sure who she's dissin' but it's cool nonetheless.

Who's the Baddest Baldy?

Amber Rose vs. Ongina...

I adore Ongina from RuPaul's Drag Race Season 1, and I've seen Kanye's woman out and about here in Hollywood... I'm partial to the LadyBoyz so Ongina gets my vote. But for a former stripper turned video vixen turned leading lady of the internationally known arrogant d-bag, Mr. West, I'd say she's done pretty well for herself.

...I'll let you decide for yourself...

Fierce Baldy Originator

There's no competition for Grace Jones...so, she just gets her own honorable mention. She was fiercely and fearlessly rocking the bald head look decades ago. I must admit, as a kid she freaked me out a bit, but sometimes being a legend and a trendsetter means scarring small innocent children. (...Lady Gaga you're well on your way)

A New Flame

Ever since I've moved into my new cozy apartment, I've become obsessed with finding the perfect candle. Thus far, I'm quite pleased with some of the Bath & Body Works scents like Sensual Amber, Creamy Nutmeg, Black Amethyst and the Winter scent from the Christmas collection. I also love the Cranberry Scented oil and diffuser from The Body Shop, and if I'm really on a budget, or just too lazy to go to the mall, Glade's scented oils candles in french vanilla is a good option too.
But, for a splurge, allow me to introduce you to the fabulous scented candles from the signature collection of DL& Company. With the average price of candles at $80, it is well worth the money spent. These slow burning candles last 40+ hours, and come in beautiful glass flower shaped jars. The strong, rich smelling fragrances that give off a mellow and not overpowering aroma, include Thorn Apple, Pink Pepper, Lady Rhubarb, Absinthe, Prickly Pear, Black Dahlia and my personal favorite Angels Trumpet.
I've been a fan of these candles for a couple of years now, but don't just take my word for it....OPRAH chose the Lady Rhubarb as one of her favorite things.

Check out their website to find out more about the signature collection, and the rest of the candle collections, diffusers and the other delightfully luxurious gift items. http://www.dlcompany.com/
