Okay, I must admit... I only know who she is because of Prince, but when has the Purple Wonder ever steered us wrong?
This is the gorgeous and graceful Misty Copeland of ABT (American Ballet Theater)
She is the dance company's first ever Black female soloist.
She began studying Ballet at the age of 15, which is very late to start for such a physically demanding practice.
All Ballerinas have an unparalleled aura of grace and elegance, but what I adore about Misty is she carries all of the grace and elegance as any other Ballerina, but with less of a pretententious heir that the majority of the mass public may find intimidating.
Ballet is a beautiful yet elite art form that does not attract as many fans as other popular genres of dance, but to see such a beautiful woman of color succeed in the genre is enough to get my attention.
